The Sorting Ceremony

Which Hogwarts House Are You?

Sit on the stool. Place the Sorting Hat on your head. Answer six honest questions and the Hat will tell you where you truly belong — Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin.

“Hmm, difficult. Very difficult...”

Six questions. The Hat already knows your answer — but it would like to hear you say it.

Frequently Asked

How does the Sorting Hat quiz work?+

The quiz asks you six questions about your values, instincts, and ideal magical day. Each answer is weighted toward one of the four Hogwarts houses, and the house with the highest total claims you.

Is this the same quiz as in the Potterhead app?+

Yes — this web version uses the same questions and scoring as the Sorting Ceremony in the iOS app. If you take it again in the app, you can save your house, earn house points, and compete for the House Cup.

Can I be in two houses at once?+

Not by the Sorting Hat. If your scores tie between houses, the Hat picks one — and once you're sorted, you carry that house with you everywhere.

What if I don't like my result?+

The Hat takes your choices into account, but it knows your true nature better than you might. That said, you can retake the quiz any time to see if your answers shift.
